I purchased a package of wi-fi timers that are connected to the internet. I have timers for my lights and all my pumps. Some timers come with extra information in the application and I can see how much power is being used per hour, per month etc. I run one timer to a small power head and it comes on for 5 minutes every hour. It is pointed upwards and is used to stop the water surface skimming over. In Canada, a set of 4 wireless timers costs about 25$.
